Your foot has 29 intrinsic muscles.

A study (Protopapas et al., Clinical Biomechanics, 2020; n=18 young adults with flat feet) analysed the effect of rigid insoles on the intrinsic muscles of the foot. Result: weakening of the abductor hallucis muscle by up to 17% within 12 weeks. Muscles that maintain the arch of the foot and stability simply switch off when they receive passive support.

The hydraulic MEDICOVI Water Wave™ membrane reacts dynamically to load — it transfers pressure, stimulates nerve endings, and is designed to support muscle function with every step.

How Water Wave™ technology works

In this short video, you'll see how stimulating nerve endings and supporting blood circulation can contribute to pain relief and increased stability.

How Water Wave™ activates your foot

Traditional insoles keep your foot in a static position — Water Wave™ teaches it to work actively. Here's what happens with every step:

Step 1. The patented water-filled hydraulic membrane (US10413014B2) transfers pressure under your foot in real-time. When landing on your heel, water dynamically shifts towards the forefoot — and returns when pushing off.

Step 2. Mechanoreceptors in your foot register the change in pressure with every movement of the water. These receptors are your foot's natural keyboard — they send a signal to your brain about how you're standing, where you're pressing, and which way you're leaning.

Step 3. 29 intrinsic foot muscles activate on a signal from mechanoreceptors — the same muscles that rigid, fitted insoles can immobilise. A 2020 study (Protopapas et al., Clinical Biomechanics, 2020, n=18 young adults with flat feet) showed a weakening of up to 17% within 12 weeks.

Step 4. Even pressure distribution and active muscular stabilisation mean less strain on the plantar fascia, knees, and spine. This is the principle of Danish biomechanics – confirmed by 30 years of intensive research and rigorous clinical studies.
